Keeping It Real: The Future’s So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades!

So much has been happening in my life and the lives of people around me.  Really, so much is happening in the world.  There’s a lot of people out there that are fearful for the future.  Healthcare is scary, government is scary, growing up is scary.  And while there are a LOT of times I am terrified of the future, right now I’m so excited.  Wanna know why???  You’re dying… I can tell…

WE ARE BUYING A HOUSE!

The other day Ken and I were driving up to visit my parents.  He was driving and he turned to me and said, “I feel like such a big boy!”  I laughed.  He said “I’m driving a nice, new-ish car, and I’m sitting next to my wife.”  It is amazing sometimes how simple things like owning a car that isn’t a beater and having someone as your husband or wife makes you feel so accomplished.

So now Ken really feels like a big boy because we are going to have our very own place.  Not a rental.  Our OWN place.  And it is so cute.  Things aren’t final yet, so I suppose I shouldn’t get too crazy sharing things about it… but we’ve put in an offer and accepted their counter offer.  We’ve signed a million papers to start the process of getting a mortgage.  The inspector comes on Tuesday and an appraiser shortly after that.  Then it is up to us to find homeowner’s insurance, and once we do that our paperwork goes to the underwriter (that word just seems so stinkin’ evil…).  If all goes well ::fingers, toes and eyeballs crossed!!!::: we will close on November 22nd.

Of course getting a new house… having a great job… and being married for a year makes me start to think of something bigger.  Oh yeah, ready for it?  BABIES.  Or just a baby.  A maybe baby.  Because I’m still not 100% sure we want to have kids.  But when your husband keeps texting you random baby names… and you have already thought about nursery decor (and pinned the heck out of it on Pinterest)… that maybe keeps getting more and more close to yes.

For fun I’ll share my thoughts on nursery decor – yellow & gray, or maybe yellow, teal & gray.  And I’m obsessed with these wall decorations I’ve seen with the words to “You are my sunshine” on them.  I’ve also seen a “Three Little Birds” quote and some decor with three birds (a mommy, daddy, and baby bird) that I am oh so in love with.  So yeah… baby brain… :)

And last, I’ll tantalize you with the initials for names we’ve talked about!  For a boy… either TMH or TWH, and for a girl AAH.  That’s all you get!!

I promise my next post will be oh-so-dietitian-like… but I’m “KEEPING IT REAL” and telling you all about the wonderful life things that happen when you’re finally doing what you love and with someone you love!  Okay, go grab the tissues… or the toilet, because my ramblings have either made you tear up or barf. :D
