Good morning everyone! How are you doing on this Marathon Monday? I will be at work today, checking in on the app to see how my friends are doing, wishing I had taken the day off so I can watch the race live. It is on my bucket list to go to the Boston Marathon as a spectator… it is also on my bucket list to BQ when I’m in my 60’s or 70’s. I have a lot of work to do…
My current marathon PR is 5:40:23. Based on current qualifying times, if I am able to squeak out a 5:20 marathon by the time I’m 80, I’ve got it! If I want to qualify in my 60’s, I’d have to cut an hour off that time. Like I said, I have a lot of work to do!
Anyway, the purpose of today’s post is first to wish my friends running Boston the best of luck. Maggie, Joe, Bob, Cindy, Earl, Sara, Francisco, Lisa, Bridget, and I’m sure others that I am forgetting. You guys are awesome and inspiring and I cannot wait to see how you do today!
Second, I want to announce some future fun that will be happening here on RD on the Run. About a week ago I asked my friends and followers if any of them would be willing to be interviewed about post-race or post-training/off-season depression. I was so pleased with the response I got from people interested in sharing their story. One of the friends who offered to share her story made a suggestion that we do the interview during one of our runs together. I told her I would record it and it sparked an idea… interviews with runners about different topics while on the run. So, your RD on the Run having Conversations on the Run!
My awesome friends helped me come with some ideas and topics, and I cannot wait to share with you Conversations on the Run with RD on the Run in the very near future. I hope that this will encourage me to post more and that all of you will enjoy getting to know the runners I know just as much as I enjoy being their friend.
Happy Marathon Monday everyone!
