June 2018 Training Recap

June was another good month for training. My training plan for the Detroit Free Press/Chemical Bank Marathon officially started this month and I have gotten more serious about my duathlon training. Check out the stats…

What was I training for? Detroit Free Press/Chemical Bank Marathon and Sanford & Sun Duathlon

What races did I run? Ludington Lakestride 10k

Best performances: Although the Ludington Lakestride 10k was not a PR, it was my first time running the race so I count the course PR. It also was my second best 10k! I am pretty pleased with how I did considering how little I like running 10k races. I’m also really happy with the amount of cross training and strength training I have been doing. I have only taken 1-2 days completely off for rest per week.

Opportunities for improvement: As usual, my eating habits could definitely use some fine tuning. And HYDRATION. With the hot and humid temperatures I really need to focus on getting in fluids.

What’s ahead: July is going to be a busy month! Next week I am running 3 different 5k races – Volkslaufe on Wednesday, Cornstalk 5k with My Team Triumph on Thursday, and the Canadian Lakes 5k on Saturday. That will be less of a race and more of a training workout since I’ll be biking to the race to get ready for the duathlon at the end of the month. My first duathlon is on my birthday weekend – same race as my first tri that I did last year on my 30th birthday but this time I’m “doing the du”. And of course the big race (26.2!) is 112 days away
