Wednesdays for some reason always seem to be my hectic days. With my new job I work 10 hour days, and on Wednesdays I usually work a late day – so I work from 9:30am-8pm. Long days, and slightly awkward as far as eating throughout the day. Also, with my new job, I have started implementing “What I Ate Wednesday” with our support group online. I have been failing pretty hard as far as posting what I ate, or eating anything interesting or worthy of posting.
Last week, however, I did a great job! I remembered that it was “What I Ate Wednesday” AND I remembered to take pictures of what I ate. Sweet! So without further delay, here’s what your “Keeping It Real” dietitian ate on Wednesday March 18th, 2015.
Breakfast: My boss texted me in the morning and asked me if I would do him a favor. I said “Possibly…” His response was: “Coffee. Good coffee.” So I made a trip to Starbucks on my way to work. I ordered a Skinny Caramel Macchiato for myself and a Skinny Vanilla Latte for him, but the barista accidently switched our cups so I ended up with the latte. It was still good! And I fell victim to having a barista spell my name wrong on a cup… what is UP with that?! Even my name… Megan… pretty simple, I thought. Anyway, I paired my Starbucks with a Nature Valley soft-baked oatmeal square, took my multivitamin, and drank some Neuro Bliss water (it is flavored, lightly carbonated water with vitamins and minerals).
Lunch: I packed myself a salad with my favorite low sodium deli turkey from Meijer, low-fat cheddar cheese and Bolthouse Farms salsa ranch yogurt dressing. I had some pineapple tidbits with it, which I didn’t really care for. I just recently discovered how much I love fresh pineapple so I thought maybe I would like the fruit cup version, but blech. Not a fan!
Afternoon snacks: My lunch was really low calorie and not super filling, so I had some snacks throughout the rest of the afternoon to keep me going. Like I said, I worked until 8pm, so that really throws off my eating for the day. I had a Yoplait Greek 100 calorie yogurt (raspberry), some wasabi & soy flavored almonds (my newest find, so yummy!), and drank some grape flavored water.
Dinner: When I finally got home last night, I pulled some of my homemade chili made with chicken, black beans, pinto beans and corn from the freezer. I heated it up with some more low fat cheddar cheese and low fat American cheese and ate it with tortilla chips. Not pictured here… my snack of 4 Keebler Deluxe Graham cookies! :)
So there you have it. That is what a day of eating looks like (sometimes) for your “Keeping It Real” dietitian!
